*About the Founder of The Basantapur Education Society:

The Basantapur Education Society (BES), a brainchild of Dr. Nazrul Islam and implemented by some generous, progressive, dedicated & devoted dignitaries was established in the year 1995 and registered under:

1. West Bengal Societies Registration Act.
2. Income Tax Act and
3. Foreign Contribution ( Regulation ) Act.

The main objectives of the society is the overall development of the area in which it is situated by spreading education at all levels at a reasonably lower cost with all modern facilities, well equipped laboratories, libraries containing latest editions of books & journals and encouraging games & sports, quiz , cultural activities etc.

About Us

Dumkal Polytechnic was established in 2002 by Basantapur Education Society (a non-profiting social welfare organization) founded by Dr. Nazrul Islam (Retired IPS officer & a well-known litterateur of Bengali prose fiction and short story today). Besides Dumkal Polytechnic, the society has established a Degree Engineering College (Dumkal Institute of Engineering & Technology), a General Degree College, a Model School & a Primary Teachers’ Training Institute. The society is proceeding towards establishing a Degree Medical College for which it has appealed for NOC from the Govt. of West Bengal. Dumkal Polytechnic has been approved by AICTE and affiliated to West Bengal State Council of Technical Education.
